Lee E. Collins

Mr. Lee Elijah Collins, age 99, of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on Feb. 9, 1919 in Patrick County to the late Elijah and Nannie Lawson Collins.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Irene Hooker Collins; an infant daughter; a son-in-law, Wade Williams; four sisters, Marie Hooker, Lottie Gammons, Mary Lankford, Martha Brown; and three brothers, Troy, Jim, and Early Collins.  Mr. Collins had retired from J.P Stevens and was a farmer and cut timber.  He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

          Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Ervie and Lewis Stevens of Stuart, Sue and Roy Hanks of Stuart, Shirley and Clarence Collins of Stuart, Linda Williams of Martinsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sue Collins of Stuart; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; 4 great great great grandchildren; a special niece, Betty Conner of Stuart; a special caregiver and also his granddaughter, Gail Ramsey of Stuart; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

          Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Clarence Bowman and Pastor Mark Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Stateline Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home or at other times at Lee’s home, 2795 Clark House Farm Rd., Stuart, VA.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Stateline Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Carroll Dalton, 1448 Stateline Church Rd., Westfield, NC 27053.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
