Lee Kent Lawson

Mr. Lee Kent Lawson, 69, of 237 Forkner Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Lawson was born April 19, 1939, in Surry County, to Irene Joyce Lawson and the late O.C. Lawson. Kent was formerly employed in the maintenance department at Renfro Corporation and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. He is survived his wife of 51 years, Hucie Watson Lawson of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Trelesa Ann and Jeff Hodges and Faith L. and Wade McCreary, all of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Neal and Susan K. Lawson and Nathanael Lee and Tandra Lawson, all of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Joseph A. O'Dell, Jamie L. Lawson, Roby L. O'Dell, Morgan A.N. Lawson, Reid McCreary, and T.L. Chase Lawson; a great-granddaughter, Valerie Layne McCreary; his mother, Irene Joyce Lawson of Mount Airy; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Joyce L. Collins of Pilot Mountain, Marilyn L. and Dean Green of Greensboro, and Sue L. and Kenny Mitchell and Dianne L. and John Walker, all of Westfield; two brothers and a sister-in-law, J. Scotty and Peggy Lawson of Pilot Mountain and Ivan Lawson of Mount Airy; and a special friend, Donnie Combs of Mount Airy. In addition to his father, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Ken Lawson; a granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Lawson; a grandson, Joshua Adam McCreary; a sister, Mary Jo Collins; and two brothers, William Max Lawson and Roger Glenn Lawson. The funeral service will be held Monday, May 5, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Dr. David Sparks, and burial will follow in the Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Faith L. and Wade McCreary, 145 McCreary Drive, Mount Airy.
