Lela Louise Alvarez

Mrs. Lela Louise Hazelwood Alvarez, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, January 11, 2020 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born in Surry County on September 12, 1936 to the late Ted and Pearl Southern Hazelwood.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.  Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Juarez and husband Javier Juarez Espinoza; and Glenda Holyfield and husband Ronnie; a son, Larry Dean Wood; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alvarez was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Ann Carias; two sons, Donald Ray Bowling and Joseph Dean Bowling; sister, Marylene Wood; and by two brothers, Clarence and Paul Hazelwood.  The family will have a memorial service at a later date.  There will not be any formal services for Mrs. Hazelwood at the funeral home.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Alvarez family.
