Lela Palina Sechrist Young

Mrs. Lela Palina Sechrist Young, 82, of 518 Jeffries Street, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Golden Living Center. She was born July 8, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Acy and Cleo Long Sechrist. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Sue Harris Pickeral of Danville, VA, and Brenda Harris Sigmond of Clairmont; two sons, Wade Harris Brown of Archdale and Larry Dale Harris of Texas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Sechrist Shaw of Sophia; and a brother, Ray Sechrist of Sophia. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Young. A private memorial service will be held at a later date by Lay Pastor Charles Hutcherson of The Seventh Day Adventist Church of Danville, VA. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
