Lelia Alice Beasley Goins

Mrs. Lelia Alice Beasley Goins, age 91 of Mt. Airy, widow of Mr. James Lester Goins, passed away Friday, September 22, 2006 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Goins was born in Stokes County, September 11, 1915 to Elisha L. and Delia Hall Beasley. She was a very special aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Peggy Beasley of Roanoke, VA; nieces, Darlene Ratliff of Roanoke, VA; Delia Hutchens of Spencer, VA; Hazel Lawrence of Mt. Airy; Anna Leigh Dunkley of Westfiled; Margaret Key of Rural Hall; Betty Pike of Charlotte; nephews, Tommy Sheppard of Mt. Airy; Joel Sheppard of Westfield; James Mitchell of Rural Hall; and Bernie Mitchell of Pinnacle; and Roy Smith of Ararat, VA; whom she thought of as an adopted son. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Goins was preceded in death by sisters, Bertie Goins, Trudie Mitchell and Lena Sheppard and by a brother, Ray Beasley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 25, 2006 at State Line Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Glenn Cox and Johnny Gray. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until the time of the service at the church.
