Mrs. Lena Johnson Atkins, 77, of Dobson, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born May 22, 1933, in Surry County, to the late Ernest and Bessie Bruner Johnson. She retired from Quality Mills and was a member of the Ararat Friends Meeting. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda Whitaker of Stony Knoll, Betty and Mike White of Dobson, and Barbara and David Embry of Mount Airy; five grandchildren and their spouses, Hank and Tracie Whitaker, Michelle and Adam Wall, Ramsey and Tanya Embry, Leslie and Paul Faistl, and Jeanna and Jim Jenkins; twelve great-grandchildren, Tyler Whitaker, Clay Whitaker, Autumn Embry, Remington Embry, Geona Jenkins, Ananiah Jenkins, Elyjah Jenkins, Owen Jenkins, Evan Wall, Stella Wall, Carter Faistl and Bryce Faistl; a sister and brother-in-law, Libbie and Jimmy Inman of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Donnies Johnson of Dobson; and two special nieces, Kim Inman Clayton and Kelly Inman Hull. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hoover Atkins; a son-in-law, Moir Henry Whitaker Jr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Terry Inman; and aspecial niece, Kris Inman Stone. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Ararat Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
