Lena Ellen Donathan Slawter

Ms. Lena Ellen Donathan Slawter, age 71 of Dobson passed away on Tuesday morning at her home. She was born in Surry County on January 15, 1937 to the late Charlie and Maggie Donathan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister Ida Barnes and two brothers Paul and Jimmy Donathan. Surviving is her companion of thirteen years Richard Rutta of the home; five daughters and sons-in-law Hilda and Mike Tope of Yadkinville, Judy Cox of Sparta, Debra and Larry Bryant of Mt. Airy, Tammie Castevens of Sparta, NC, Gaye and Sammy Jones of Mt. Airy: four sons and daughters-in-law Rickey Slawter of Mt. Airy,
Steven and Faye Slawter of Dobson, Gary Slawter of Mt. Airy, and Keith Slawter of Mt. Airy; fourteen grandchildren Dale Hayes, Jacob Hicks, Amanda Cox, Chris Boyd, Justin Slawter, Shane Castevens, Bradley Castevens, Vanessa Slawter, Chad Jones, Bryan Jones, Andrew Jones, Samantha Jones, Justin Slawter,
Jason Slawter; six great grandchildren, Logan Hicks, Alex Hicks, CJ Boyd, Natalie Jones, Daniel Jones and Tyler Hayes. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday in the Chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson with burial to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 PM. At other times the home of her daughter Debra Bryant 104 Mason Rd. Mt. Airy, NC 27030
