Lenon Thomas Niten

Mr. Lenon Thomas Niten, 88, of 68 Niten Hollow Lane, Ararat, VA, passed away Monday, February 25, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Mount Airy. Mr. Niten was born October 5, 1919, in Patrick County, VA, son of the late John Aaron and Elitha Barnard Niten. Lenon served our country in the United States Army and Air Force during World War II. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of Raven Rock Wesleyan Church in Ararat, VA. He is survived by a brother and three sisters-in-law, James Lester and Evelyn Niten of Arlington, VA, Noreen Niten of Ararat, VA, and Esther Niten of Pantego; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Niten was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cooper Dalton Niten; a sister, Rosetta Lawson; and four brothers, Otto Niten, Lawrence Niten, Bonnell Niten, and Boyer Niten. The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 28, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Buford Jessup, and burial will follow at Thornspring United Methodist Church Cemetery in Dublin, VA, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 1184 of Pulaski, VA. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
