Ms. Lenora Jane Dearmin Bryant, age 84 of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Surry Community Nursing Center. Mrs. Bryant was born in Surry County, July 8, 1922 to Thomas Yancy and Martha Gilbert Dearmin. She proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Ms. Bryant was the retired from Wake Forest University as their Nurse Practitioner. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William and Masami Bryant of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren; Eric Wall of Charleston, SC.; Claudia Mendoza of Irvine, CA; a sister, Bette Davis of Mt. Airy; a brother, Dallas Dearmin of Greenville, RI and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Bryant was preceded in death by a son, Frank Bryant; a sister, Ruth Matthews and a brother, Thomas Dearmin. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 5, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church with services conducted by Rev. Lester Bryant. Burial will follow in Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until time to be taken to the church for the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Salem U.M.C. Scholarship Fund, 124 Myers Dr. Mt. Airy, NC. 27030. The family would like to give a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, Surry Community Nursing Center and to Dr. Adrian Griffin for all of their love and care.
