Leonard "Dale" Odell Flippin

Leonard Odell (Dale) Flippin, 90, of Critz, Virginia, formerly of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on April 25, 2022.Dale was born on July 1, 1931 in Stokes County, NC to the late George Cladie Flippin, Sr. and Emma Eddie Fuller Flippin.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Jo Lawson Flippin; five brothers, Hubert, Carroll, Ernest, Willie and Bobby and one sister, Evelyn Collins. Dale joined the army in 1953 and served in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. He then began building custom homes until his retirement at the age of 72. Dale was a loving, devoted husband, and father.

Mr. Flippin is survived by his children: B. Marlene Smith of Portsmouth, VA, Mark D. Flippin (Teresa) of Westfield, NC, Sandra Flippin-Giroux (Thomas) of Virginia Beach, VA, and J. Renee’ Blankenship (Brian) of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren-Jessica Smith Green (Adrian) of Norfolk, VA, Tyler Blankenship (Nicole) of Virginia Beach, VA and Kelsee Blankenship (Steven) of Chesapeake, VA; two great-grandchildren-Elon Green and Caiden Sahr; one sister,Virginia Vaden of Westfield, NC, and two brothers, Walter R. Flippin (Bernell) of Franklinton, NC and G. Cladie (Nancy) Flippin of Stuart, VA; many nieces and nephews.

Dale will be interred at Rosewood Memorial Park, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Va. Graveside service will be Friday, April 29th, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in  Stuart and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
