Leonard Herbert Smith

Mr. Leonard Herbert Smith age 77 of 8011 West Pine Street, Lowgap, NC husband of Mrs. Mary Wright Smith passed away Thursday night, December 14, 2006 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born September 2, 1929 in Surry County, NC to the late Dewey Thomas and Edna Isaccs Smith. He was retired from Lucent and was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Navy. Surviving are his wife, Mary W. Smith of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Amy Carol and Walt Moyer, Graham, NC, a son and daughter-in-law, Barry Craig and Connie Smith, South Hill, VA, four grandchildren and a spouse, David Lee and Amy Elizabeth Smith, King, NC, Ethan Moyer, Jonathan Moyer and Aidan Moyer all of Graham, NC, twin great granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Smith and Abigail Renee Smith both of King, NC, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ada and James Williams, Winston-Salem, NC, and Flossie Shamel Winston-Salem, NC, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Baxter and Joan Smith, Walnut Cove, NC, Harvey and Betty Smith, Rural Hall, NC, a special family friend, Renee Shirley Smith, King, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Jasper and Helen Smith. Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Saturday night at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Mr. Everett Mayes and Mr. David Lee Smith. Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens 4:00 PM Sunday, December 17, 2006. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VWF Post 2019 Mt. Airy and VFW Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Saturday night following the funeral service at Moody Funeral Home.
