Miss Leslie Darlene Joyner, 57, of Mt. Airy passed away unexpectedly, Friday, October 9, 2021. She was born in Davidson County, June 1, 1964, to the late Mark William and Christine Grainger Joyner. Miss Joyner was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a loving sister, friend, and always helping others by carrying food, phone calls, and prayers. She loved children and regularly assisted with the children in teaching their classes in Sunday School. She faced many challenges and physical limitations during her life yet maintained her independence and a positive attitude throughout. She is now free from those limitations of her physical body and rejoined with her mother and father. Miss Joyner will be dearly missed by her brothers and sister-in-law, Willie Douglas and Judy Joyner, Robert Samuel Joyner; nieces, nephews, and spouses, Dawn and Jody Potts, Heather and Michael Willard, Jessica and David Mappa, T.J. Joyner, Nicky Joyner and girlfriend Jennifer, Keenan and Brittany Joyner, and A.J. Mappa; great nieces and nephews, Summer, Payton, Jillian, Madalyn, Alex, Austin, and Adam; and all her church family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the James Monroe Hiatt Memorial Cemetery.
