Lester Collins, Jr.

Mr. Lester Collins, Jr., 71, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday night, April 16, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Collins was born March 7, 1953, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Lester Collins, Sr. and Rosalie Olson Collins.  Lester retired as the store manager at Eckerd Corporation/Rite Aid after many years of service and was a member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Martin Collins; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Joe Collins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and April Collins and Brad and Jennifer Collins; six grandchildren, Kristen Daughenbaugh, Madison Collins, Mackenzie Collins, Grayson Collins, Jackson Collins, and Addison Collins; two great-grandchildren, Noah Cole Simpson and Kaislee Whitener; and a sister and brother-in-law, Dara and Tim Parsons.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a sister, Leslie Collins Brett; and a brother, Terry Lee Collins.  A service of worship and celebration of Lester’s life will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Eric Smith and the Rev. Richard Loman officiating.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Surry Medical Ministries, 951 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 325, Dobson, NC   27017.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
