Mr. Levi Hodges, 88, of Dobson, a loving father and grandfather passed away on Saturday January 23, 2010 at the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. He was born in Surry County to the late James Samuel and Betty Jane White Hodges. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two wives Mable Harrison Hodges and Doris Richardson Johnson Hodges; daughter Peggy Jewel Hodges; son Bobby Dean Hodges; great granddaughter Chloe Ann Gentry, four brothers and four sisters. Mr. Hodges was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the NC Department of Transportation and Farmer; he was a skilled carpenter and loved working in woodcrafts. All who knew and loved him will always cherish his memory. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Sammy and Judy Hodges of Elkin; two daughters and sons-in-law Martha and Larry Gentry of State Road, Audine and Curtis Royall of Dobson; five grandchildren Jonathan (Tina) Hodges and Sarah (Dylan) Atkins, Christopher Gentry, Curtis Lee (Kim) Royal and Melissa (Michael) Gentry; five great-grandchildren Grace and Faith Hodges, Hannah and Priscilla Gentry, Megan Royal; sister Rannie White of Dobson; special friend Evelyn Payne and children. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday morning January 26, 2010 at Snow Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jason Johnson, Rev. Stewart Roten and Rev. Gayle Stoker will officiate the services. His body will remain at Moody-Davis Funeral Home until carried to the church to lie in state 30 min. before the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Monday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O Agnes White 1650 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017, or to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
