Mr. Lewis Raymond Cox, 68, of Pilot Mountain passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. He was born in Surry County on January 13, 1943 to the late Herbert and Annie Mae Frye Cox. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 24 years, Peggy Miranda Edwards Cox of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Terry Hunt of Shoals; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Becky Cox of Dobson, Johnny and Debra Snow of Pilot Mountain; two beloved grandchildren, Samantha Cox and Austin and Crystal Snow; two step-granddaughters, Terri Hunt Upchurch and Ashley Dawson; five great-grandchildren, Christian Hunt, Maddison Upchurch, Kyler Dawson, Gracie Dawson and Trinity Thomas; his precious mother-in-law who adored him, “Dolly” Richardson of the home; two brothers-in-law, Gene Darnell of Greensboro and Jay Draughn of Pilot Mountain; two nieces, Rebecca Cox and Lois Ann Brown; a nephew, Scott Cox; a special friend, Willie Richardson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Darnell and Helen Draughn and a brother, Robert Eugene Cox. His funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday September 24, 2011 at Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe Lambert, the Rev. Delbert Bledsoe and Bro. Don Collins with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 on Friday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home and other times at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis Cox Funeral Fund, c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home P.O. Box 295 Dobson, NC 27017.
