Mrs. Lillian Nichols Badgett, 91, formerly of 111 Draughn Street, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Badgett was born June 20, 1915, in Surry County, to the late Roy and Virginia Cook Nichols. She was a dedicated employee of Renfro Corporation for 25 years and later retired from Spencer's Inc. Mrs. Badgett was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Glenda Badgett Simmons and Muriel and Tommy Watson, all of Mount Airy, and Minerva and Lee Roy Hicks of White Plains; seven grandchildren and spouses, Crystal and Errol Hill and Ginger and Grant Welch, all of Mount Airy, Richie and Diane Simmons of Thomasville, Michael and Anne Marie Hicks and Randy and Kim Hicks, all of White Plains, Allison and Eric Sinclair of Westfield, and Stan and Brenda Watson of Dunedin, FL; nine great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Roger Doss and Alma Nichols Vernon, all of Mount Airy; a brother, Doug Nichols of Mount Airy; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Ashburn Nichols of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Badgett was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Gilbert Badgett; and four brothers, Vance Nichols, Chester "Check" Nichols, Gordon Nichols, and Bill Nichols. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 18, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Dr. Wayne Hager, and burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service. The family may be contacted at other times at the home of Minerva and Lee Roy Hicks, 229 Lee Roy Hicks Trail, White Plains. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
