Mrs. Lillian Crissman Deatherage, 94, of 113 Dewberry Road, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, September, 4, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Deatherage was born April 13, 1914, in Surry County, to the late Fate and Cora Williams Crissman. She was a homemaker and a member of New Venture Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Bill Cockerham of Mount Airy, Pamela and Thornton Beroth of Pilot Mountain, and Dusty and Jack Edmonds of Belmont; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Gray and Brenda Deatherage of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren and spouses, Mike and Debbie Cockerham and Ann and Jason Sheets, all of Mount Airy, Ronald and Valerie Cockerham of Ararat, Richard and Yvonne Cockerham of Lenoir, Regan and Matt Spencer of Sugar Grove, Allyson and Larry Smith of Elkin, and Emily and Jeff Dill of Cary; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Deatherage was preceded in death by her husband, Odis M. Deatherage; and a daughter, Lovelene Deatherage. The family would like to express a special thanks to Mrs. Deatherage's caregivers, Nancy Johnson and Juanita Sumner, for the care given during Mrs. Deatherages illness. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Todd E. Byrd, and burial will follow in the New Venture Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
