Lillian Cornelia Hicks Isaacs

Mrs. Lillian Cornelia Hicks Isaacs, 94, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday night, May 21, 2016, at the home of her son. Mrs. Isaacs was born August 15, 1921, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late Luther Herbert and Mallie Creed Hicks. Lillian was a member of New Life Baptist Church, where she taught a Sunday school class for many years. She retired from Cross Creek Apparel after 39 years of service. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Scottie and Jenny Porter Isaacs of Mount Airy; a granddaughter and her husband, Andrea and Jake Freeman of Mount Airy; a grandson and his wife, Greg and Barbara Isaacs of Mount Airy; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Isaacs, Trevor Isaacs, and Emma Freeman, all of Mount Airy; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hicks of Mount Airy, Sue Hicks of Winston-Salem, and Marie Isaacs of King; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Isaacs was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Isaacs; a great-grandson, Gabe Isaacs; five sisters, Percy Creed, Maude Holder, Ella Mayes, Alma McCune, and Elizabeth Wilson; and four brothers, Melvin Hicks, Edgar Hicks, Jasper Hicks, and Marlin Hicks. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Gray Kirkman and the Rev. Alton Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Scottie and Jenny Porter Isaacs, 3080 Haystack Road, Mount Airy. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Rosa Aldea, Janene Moss, and Candice Johnson.
