Lillian Holder Lawrence

Mrs. Lillian Holder Lawrence, age 94 of 1886 Park Drive, Mt. Airy, widow of Mr. George Lawrence, passed away Sunday, November 05, 2006 to go be with the Lord. Mrs. Lawrence was born in Surry County, March 2, 1912 to Alex and Lula Byrd Holder. She worked for forty-nine years at Spencer's Inc. before retiring. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church for many years. She loved her church and her church family dearly. She loved to read the bible daily. She will be missed by every one who knew her. She was a very caring, loving person "To know her was to love her". Surviving are a sister, Kathleen Johnson of Mt. Airy; a sister-in-law, Virginia Holder also of Mt. Airy; and several nieces and nephews, each and every one was special to Mrs. Lawrence and she loved them all. A special thanks goes out to her niece Glenda and nephew George who gave her special care during her illness. Thanks to all the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Surry County Senior Services. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sabra Cleo Lawrence; a sister, Inez Massey; and brothers, Raymond Holder, Ora Holder, Rev. Gurney Holder and Woodrow Holder. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Highland Park Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Grover Holder, Dr. David Brady and eulogy by Bobby Holder. Burial will follow in White Plains Friends Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home where her body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service.
