Lillian Viola Payne

Mrs. Lillian Viola Riggs Payne, age 79, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at her home.  She was born in Surry County, on November 15, 1941, to the late Rev. Dan Franklin Riggs and the late Nannie Elizabeth Haymore Riggs.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell George Payne; son, Warren Franklin Payne; sister, Gladia Marie Riggs Johnson; brother, Calvin Wade Riggs.  Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.  Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Odell Lee and Robin Wood Payne; grandson and his wife, Matthew McKinley and Lauren Tolbert Payne; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie Wayne and Christine Riggs.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 7, 2020, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Nolan Bentley will officiate the services.  Mrs. Payne body will lie state on Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of her service at 1:00 PM.  Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Payne family.
