Mrs. Lillie Mae Flippen Beasley, 98, of 181 West Virginia Street, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Galax, VA. Mrs. Beasley was born July 29, 1910, in Stokes County, to the late Joe Taylor and Delpinnie Elizabeth Boles Flippen. She retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of the Primitive Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Inez and Mickey Badgett and Isabell Marshall, all of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Lynn Caudill of Mount Airy, Robin and Joey Kidd, Sharon and Mike Hayes, and Kimberly and Joey Blackburn, all of Dobson, Timothy and Linda Marshall of Troutman, Lisa and Jim Garzoni of Indian Trail, and Ashley and David Fulk of Ararat, VA; sixteen great-grandchildren, Misty Brindle, Jennifer Canosa and husband, Michael, Christopher Kidd, Matthew Marshall, Lauren Marshall, Sara Marshall, Sam Marshall, Jimmy Garzoni, Shannon Garzoni, Hannah Comer, Haley Comer, Hunter Hayes, Savannah Blackburn, Nolan Blackburn, Blake Fulk, and Nathanael Fulk; two great-stepgrandchildren, Chris Hayes and wife, Jessica, and Candra Hayes; and a great-great-stepgrandchild, Sadie Grace Hayes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beasley was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Calvin Beasley; a daughter, Betty Lou Marshall; a son-in-law, Delmar Marshall; six sisters, Myrtes Arrington, Martha Williams, Ellen Key, Susie Dawson, Annie Beasley, and Virginia Hill; and three brothers, Curtis Flippen, Otis Flippen, and Sam Flippen. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 6, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Korners Grove Primitive Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Elder Lacy Gates and Elder Johnie Belton, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family may also be contacted at the home of Inez and Mickey Badgett, 140 Benjamin Street, Mount Airy.
