Lillie Forrest Worrell Draughon

Mrs. Lillie Forrest Worrell Draughon, 84, of 1239 Cadle Ford Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Draughon was born July 7, 1922, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Prince and Alice Gates Worrell. She retired as a sales associate from K-Mart and was a member of Grace Moravian Church. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gilbert Aaron Draughon, Sr. of the home; a daughter, Debbie Dickerson of Mount Airy; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Aaron and Janie Draughon and Trent Draughon and Tammy Atkins, all of Mount Airy, and Ronnie and Carol Draughon of Lowgap; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a great stepgrandchild. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draughon was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth Draughon; a sister, Frances Draughn; and a brother, Woodrow Worrell. The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Slate, and entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Becky Johnson, and the staff of the Medical-Surgical Unit at Northern Hospital of Surry County for their love and kindness shown to Lillie during her illness.
