Lillie Geneva Simmons Simmons

Mrs. Lillie Geneva Simmons Simmons, 90, of 506 Tom's Creek Church Road, Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday evening, May 14, 2012, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Simmons was born May 3, 1922, in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late Ellis Wilcher and Ida Mae Adams Simmons. Lillie was a homemaker, a farmer, and a member of Woodville Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Zelda and Garvine Collins of Pilot Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Norma Simmons of Pilot Mountain; four grandchildren and their spouses, Sara and Greg Joyce of Madison, Phillip and Kelly Simmons and Elizabeth and J.R. Brim, all of Pilot Mountain, and Eric and Leigh Ann Collins of Hopkinsville, KY; seven great-grandchildren, Tanner Simmons, Trace Simmons, Trevor Simmons, Lauren Gore and her husband, Jason, Tyler Brim, Seth Brim, and Conner Collins; a sister, Nonnie Simmons Taylor of Pilot Mountain; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Quincy Napoleon Simmons; six sisters, Mary Simmons Roberts, Bertie Simmons, Olene Simmons, Orene Simmons, Nora Simmons Flinchum, and Ilene Simmons Taylor; and three brothers, Wiley Simmons, Aldie Simmons, and Hobert Simmons. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 18, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Woodville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Love and Dr. Joel Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Woodville Baptist Church. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Golden Living Center, the 4th floor staff at Northern Hospital of Surry County, and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving and compassionate care they provided.
