Mrs. Linda Sue Barker, 64, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Barker was born May 27, 1946, in Bland County, VA, to Carl Hayton and Zena Bridges Hayton. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. Mrs. Barker was a member of Ivy Green Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Douglas Barker of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Richard Hawks of Lowgap and Chris and Marc Tickle of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Tickle and Hayley Tickle; one grandchild on the way, John-Douglas Brady Hawks; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Pam Edmonds of Lexington and Tim and Christy Edmonds of Yadkinville; her mother-in-law, Estelle Barker of the home; and three nephews, Johnathon Edmonds, Zachary Edmonds, and Alexander Edmonds. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her stepfather, Kermit Edmonds; two stepbrothers, Larry Edmonds and Billy Edmonds; and her father-in-law, Walter Barker. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Lester Bryant and the Rev. Donnie Hooker officiating. Burial will follow in the Round Peak Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
