Linda B. Clark, widow of the late Dr. Walter E. Clark, Jr., died June 18, 2009 in Stuart, Virginia. Linda, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter P. Barnes, Sr., lived in Stuart in her early years and later graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Throughout her life, she was active in community and church-related activities. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David L. Clark, and a brother, Dr. Walter P. Barnes, Jr.
Linda is survived by two sons, Dr. Ross C. Clark of Richmond, Kentucky and Walter E. Clark, III of McLeansville, North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Gail Clark of Stuart; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Andrew E. Clark of Juneau, Alaska, Daniel O. Clark of Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Laurel A. Clark of Hartford, Connecticut and John D. Clark, who is currently serving as a missionary with his wife, Loren, and son, Bryan in Uganda, Africa; and a sister, Allie B. Wachter of Sebring, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 1863 Clark House Farm Road, Stuart, Virginia. Light refreshments will be served in the church's fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Linda's favorite charities: Heifer Project International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, Arkansas 72202 or to Save the Children, 54 Wilton Road, Westport, Connecticut 06880.
