Linda Gayle Hawks

Mrs. Linda Gayle Jones Hawks, 77, of Mount Airy, passed away early Thursday morning, July 26, 2018, at her home.  Mrs. Hawks was born December 4, 1940, in Surry County, one of three children born to the late Virgil and Myrtle Harrison Jones.  Linda retired as a computer programmer from Cross Creek Apparel after 38 years of service and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Hayford Hawks of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Roy Ayers of Mount Airy and Lynn and Lewis Holmes of Pilot Mountain; her grandchildren, Alex and Carissa Sawyers of Denver, Holly Sawyers of Charlotte, Adam Lewis of Dobson, and Landon Holmes of Mount Airy; a great-grandchild, Briley Sawyers of Denver; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Tony Transou of Mount Airy; her nieces and nephews, Kevin and Sarah Clark and Valerie and Chad Draughn, all of Mount Airy, and Neil and Jennifer Casstevens of Lincolnton; and her great nieces and nephews, Landon Casstevens, and Lacie Casstevens both of Lincolnton, and Savanhah Draughn and Grayson Draughn, both of Mount Airy.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by a sister, Vicki Jones Clark; a brother, Roland Jones; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lacy and Hassie Ayers Hawks Sutphin.  A service of worship and celebration of Linda’s life will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Alex L. Martin officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030.
