Linda Doris McMillian Haynes

Mrs. Linda Doris McMillian Haynes, 51, Cana, VA, passed away unexpectedly. She was born June 16, 1959, to Glenn McMillian and the late Mabelline Lillian Haynes McMillian of Cana, VA. She was married to Gary Lane Haynes, Sr. on June 17, 1976, her beloved husband of 34 years, and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Elizabeth Ann McMillian; and her cherished mother, Mabelline. Linda was a 2007 honor graduate of Wytheville Community College. She held a degree in early childhood education. She was a dedicated employee of the Southwest Training Center in Woodlawn, VA, where she provided loving care to the less fortunate. She loved the beach, fishing, and reading. She spent most of her spare time with her grandsons. Linda is survived by her husband, Gary Lane Haynes, Sr. of the home. She was the proud mother of two children, a son and his wife, Gary Lane "G.L." and Candice Haynes of Cana, VA, and a daughter and her husband, Misty and Marty Easter of Ararat, VA. She will be missed most by her three grandchildren, Austin Lane Haynes, Joel Grey Easter, and Levi Tristin Jones, all of whom were the apple of her eye. Also surviving are her father, Glenn McMillian of Cana, VA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gaye and Denny Nichols of Hillsville, VA, and Pam and Bill Hartgrove of Kingsport, TN; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Calvin McMillian and Donald and Cathy McMillian, all of Cana, VA; and a "special family friend," Kevin Scott Ray of Tennessee. On Tuesday morning, Linda left this earth to find a world of rest and peace. Linda is now in heaven to hold her mother's hand and waiting on her husband to join her. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Sechrist and the Rev. Oscar Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
