Linda Ann Smith

Mrs. Linda Ann Smith, 77, of Cana, VA, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Smith was born October 29, 1943, in Carroll County, VA, one of four children born to the late Edward Hoke and Hallie Thomas Smith. Ann worked at Saint Paul School for several years, and she later worked as a retail associate at Walmart in Mount Airy. Mrs. Smith was a faithful member of Mount Bethel Moravian Church. She loved working with dried flowers to create beautiful arrangements and decorating the church sanctuary for worship services and special events. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James Larry “Jamie” Smith, Jr. and Gloria Smith and Patrick Ashley and Kristie Smith, all of Cana, VA; three grandchildren who adored her as “Nana,” Hallie Smith of Staunton, VA, and Bailey Strickland and Carmen Grace Smith, both of Cana, VA; a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Bruce Ayers of Cana, VA; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Pat Smith of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, James Larry Smith; and an infant brother, Tommy Smith. A service of worship and celebration of Ann’s life will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Mount Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Fishel officiating. No formal visitation will be held; however, family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Bonnie Ayers, 2119 Wards Gap Road, Cana, VA 24317.
