Lois G. Martin

Mrs. Lois G. Martin, 78, of Claudville, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior from her home on Monday afternoon, March 7, 2022, with her loving family by her side.  She was born in Surry County on July 13, 1943, to the late Audy Roosevelt Galyean and Juanita Inez Hanks Galyean.  Lois was in childcare most of her adult life and she was better known as “Nanny Lois.”  Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband of 56 years, William Dallas “Bill” Martin of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery Keith “Jeff” Martin and wife Kim, Bradley Scott Martin and wife Stacy, and William Chadwick “Chad” Martin and wife Laura; grandchildren, JK, Isabella, Adalai, Jude, Faith, Emma, Eric, Katie, and Kirsten; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Natalee; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Lucille Galyean McCraw, and Helen Elizabeth Galyean McPeak; and two brothers, Luther Velpo Galyean, and Eugene Galyean.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Asbury Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Mark Caryle officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Martin family.
