Lois Irene Hooker Poole

Mrs. Lois Irene Hooker Poole, 86 of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, October 2, 2009, at Wilkesboro Senior Village in Wilkesboro. Mrs. Poole was born January 8, 1923, in Surry County, to the late France Marion and Georgia Lee Pruitt Hooker. She retired from Quality Mills and was a member of the Primitive Baptist faith. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by her husband, William J. "Geeter" Poole; four sisters, Annie Cassady, Geneva Slate, Edith Bowman, and Ethel Berrier; three brothers, George Hooker, Claude Hooker, and Warren Hooker. The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 4, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder Kenneth Hopkins and the Rev. Tom Slate officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of her niece, Dianne Hooker, 219 Glory Lane, Mount Airy.
