Lola Irene Sawyers Boles

Mrs. Lola Irene Sawyers Boles, 88, of 1022 Radar Road, Ararat, passed away Thursday morning, September 24, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Boles was born May 3, 1921, in Surry County, to the late Lee Grant and Emma Sadie Venable Sawyers. She retired from Spencer's Inc. after 25 years of service and was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Danny Johnson of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Sandra Boles of Ararat; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kim Johnson, Jon Boles, and Molly and Eric Willey, all of Ararat, and David and Tina Johnson of Elkin; three great-grandchildren, Anthony Johnson, Shelly Johnson, and Leo Johnson, all of Elkin; and a sister and brother-in-law, Susie and the Rev. Bill Cook of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boles was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Andrew Boles; a sister; and five brothers. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 11:30 AM at Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Watson and the Rev. Darrell Tate officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
