Lola Louvinia Combs Leonard

Mrs. Lola Louvinia Combs Leonard, 87, of 383 Leonhardt Dr. Cana VA, widow of the late John Haywood Leonard passed away at Golden Living Center on Thursday April 3, 2008. Mrs. Leonard was born in Carroll County VA, on December 3, 1920 to the late Jesse Alexander "Alex" and Evoline Hawks Combs. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Leonard devoted her life to care for her family and her husband during his long illness. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are two sons, Don Leonard and wife Joy of Cana, Bruce Leonard of Cana and a special friend, Kathy Mitchell of Winston Salem; grandchildren, Donnette Leonard and special friend, Glenn Moore, both of Cana, VA, Don Leonard, Jr. and wife, Shawna of Cana, Clinton Leonard and wife Megan of Sandston, VA, Walker Leonard and wife Amanda of Cana; great grandchildren, Morgan, Abby, Quinton, Kara Beth and Jackson John and a special friend, Ethel Talley. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Leonard was preceded in death by five sisters, Nell, Effie, Savada, Gertie and Lannie; four brothers, Melvin, Dolph, Dempse and Sterling. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. David "Buster" Sechrist and Rev. Verlon Combs with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to express a special thanks to the wonderful care given by Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff at Golden Living Center to Mrs. Leonard during her illness.
