Lonnie James Hutchens

Mr. Lonnie James Hutchens age 84 of 2569 West Pine Street, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Vernice Joyce Hutchens passed away Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 5, 1922 in Surry County, NC to the late Thomas J. and Bertie Frances Atkins Hutchens. Mr. Hutchens was retired had worked at North Surry High School and was retired from Mt. Airy High School in maintenance. He was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are his wife, Vernice J. Hutchens of the home, a daughter, Joyce Ann Hutchens of the home, three sons and three daughters-in-law, Freddie Dean and Sandra Hutchens, Wilkesboro, NC, Lonnie Ray and Teresa Hutchens, Shoals, NC, Dale Wayne and Pam Hutchens of Ararat, NC, seven grandchildren, Shasta Daughenbaugh, Ben Hutchens, Holly Gunter, Chad Hutchens, Ashley Mills, Buffy Moore and Melissa Stanley, eight great grandchildren, a sister, Doris Smith, Mt. airy, NC, a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Elsie Hutchens, Mt. Airy, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hutchens was preceded in death by a daughter Kathy Sue Hutchens, three brothers, Lacy, Gilbert and Grover Hutchens and three sisters, Pealrie Jefferson, Ola Reece and Hattie Mae Brooks. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted b Rev. Dale Wallace and Rev. Lonnie Gunter. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:30 PM Saturday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home.
