Lora Etta Hawks

Mrs. Lora Etta Hawks, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Hawks was born September 7, 1935, in Carroll County, VA, to Dexter and Daisy Lena Hawks. She retired from Central Care and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Leonard Shelton of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Angie Hawks of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Alicia Shelton; and sisters, Mildred Edwards and Margie Tate, both of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Ms. Hawks was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Edwards and Myrtle Hawks; and three brothers, Clinton Hawks, Rector Hawks, and Chester Hawks. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial will follow in the Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
