Lora Jean Jones Steele

Mrs. Lora Jean Jones Steele, 67, of Cana, VA, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. Mrs. Steele was born January 5, 1939, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Roscoe Fredrick and Annie Lousia Jones Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Christal Gunnell and Lucretia and Arles W. Edwards, all of Cana, VA; a brother, Rondie Jones of Thurmond; and a sister-in-law, Marine Jones of Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lester Steele; a son, Baris Steele; and a brother, Cephus Jones. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 15, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Elder Arwood Edwards, and burial will follow in the Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
