Mrs. Loredith Mae Taylor Johnson, 76, of Mount Airy, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving children. Mrs. Johnson was born October 15, 1933, in Surry County, to Ed and Ida Felts Taylor. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Kenneth Walker and Portia and Jeffery Tate, all of Mount Airy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Debbie Johnson of Ararat, Eddie and Della Johnson of Pinnacle, and Daron and Petra Johnson of Mount Airy; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Underwood of Mount Airy; a half-sister, Connie Puckett of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and a very special "angel," Peggy Pell, who lovingly cared for Mrs. Johnson for so long. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Taylor, Jr. and Leonard Taylor; and a half-sister, Georgia Wilhite. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Dennis Moore officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home from 12:30 until the time of the service, and other times at Mrs. Johnson's home, 508-A Merritt Street, Mount Airy.
