Loretta Smith

Mrs. Loretta Upchurch Smith, age 80, of Lambsburg, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  She was born in Carroll County, VA December 5, 1938 to the late William Jasper and Eliza Faulkner Upchurch.  Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Kowalski and husband, Ronald; sons, Ricky Smith and wife, Brenda, and Jasper Smith and fiancée, Shannan Stokes; grandchildren, Joshua Smith and Nakoma Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alma Haynes and husband, Russell, Thelma Bryant and husband, Corbet, Wilma Triplet and husband, Arnold, Elizabeth “Susie” Williams; and a brother, Elmer Upchurch and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Roland Smith; a sister, Nelma Robinson and a brother, Albert Upchurch.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Bryant officiating.  Burial will follow in the Edwards-Upchurch Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 25 N.
