Mrs. Loretta Lee Phillips Watson, 92, of Mt. Airy went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on March 2, 1929, to the late, Benton and Annie Stone Phillips. Mrs. Watson was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Her passion was to serve the Lord by playing the piano in churches, and in her younger years played for many gospel groups. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church where she was the pianist for many years. She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Rev. Terry Ray and Mildred Watson, Guy Randall “Randy” Watson; grandchildren and spouses, Shannon and Jason Burnette, Tina and Chad Johnson; great grandchildren, Ashley and Jonathan Whitt, Kaylee Burnette, Olivia Johnson, Chloe Johnson, and Grace Johnson; great great grandson, Jaxon Whitt; a sister, Myrtle Wood; a brother-in-law, Bobby Watson; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Wallace Watson. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Ray Watson and the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Westside Baptist Church.
