Lori Malena Knowles

Mrs. Lori Malena Knowles of State Road N.C., passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009. Originally from Connecticut, she moved to North Carolina 3 years ago. She grew up in Rocky Hill Ct. and was a graduate of Rocky Hill High School. She worked at Cigna Corp. in Bloomfield, Ct. for 14 years as a Business Analyist where she achieved recognition and many awards for her work. After her marriage, she resided in Enfield, Ct. for 16 years before moving to North Carolina. She leaves behind her husband and soul mate of 22 years, William Mark Knowles, her sister and brother in law Jay and Diane Colangelo, her sister Marie Malena, Her nephew Dean Cornelio, and very dear friends, Carol Ann Cormier of Enfield, Ct., Gary and April Curnow of Middletown, Ct., Geri Clough of Osteen, Fl., Bill and Mary King of State Road, N.C., Ruth Anderson of West Hartford, Ct., Mary Jane and William Caffyn of Marlborough, Ct., Her mother and father in law, William and Betty Knowles of West Hartford, Ct., Her beloved kitty, Thumper, and many more dearest friends and family. She is predeceased by her Father, Albert Malena, Her mother, Elvira Malena, and her stepson, Christopher Knowles.A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 101 Hawthorn Rd., Elkin, N.C.on Friday, May 22, 2009, at 1:00 pm. and a memorial service will be held at the Samsel and Carmen Funeral Home, 419 Buckland St., South Windsor, Ct. on May 27, 2009 at 7:00 pm. Instead of flowers, Please make a donation to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 688 North Bridge St., Elkin, N.C. 28621. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Knowles family.
