Lorrene Marion Hiatt

Mrs. Lorrene Marion Hiatt, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, at Twin County Hospital in Galax, VA. Mrs. Hiatt was born February 7, 1924, in Surry County, to Charlie and Cora Marion. She retired from Spencer's Inc. after 36 years of service. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Alex Southern of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby and Patsy Hiatt and Douglas Hiatt, all of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Philip Hiatt, Donald Southern, and Rana S. Chamberlain and husband, Chris; and special friends, Wilda Tolbert and Margaret Lamm. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by her husband, Sandy Marion Hiatt; three sisters, Tishie Cassell, Lillian Osbin, and Levia Atkins; and two brothers, Haster Marion and Clifton Marion. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Indian Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Floyd and the Rev. Keith Love. Mrs. Hiatt will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at the churche. Burial will follow in the Indian Grove Family cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
