Lottie Mae Burgess Gouge

Mrs. Lottie Mae Burgess Gouge, 91, of 277 Clover Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, March 17, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Gouge was born March 2, 1921, in Putnam County, TN, the daughter of the late Matt and Janner Brewington Burgess. She was a homemaker and a devout Christian. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Joe Dilley of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles Swack of Florida and James and Linda Swack of Tennessee; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gouge was preceded in death by her husband, Hoover Reece Gouge; a daughter, Glenda Maness; a son, Bill Swack; and several brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Park in Johnson City, TN, with the Rev. Danny Maness officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
