Mrs. Lou Annie Baker Edwards, age 90 of Lambsburg, widow of Elder Alexander Edwards to whom she was married to for sixty-eight years, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at her home surrounded by her children. Mrs. Edwards was born in Carroll County, April 27, 1917 to Robert and Sarah Spencer Baker. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church for seventy years and a wonderful mother to seventeen children. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Galyean; Hattie and James Galyean; Mary and Haywood McBride all of Lowgap; Lucy and Steve Lindsay of Elkin; Naomi and Don Lindsay of Lambsburg; sons and daughters-in-law, James Edwards, David and Wilma Edwards; John and Carla Edwards; Sam and Murkie Edwards; George and Betty Edwards; Bruce and Lettie Edwards all of Lambsburg; Vernice Edwards of Cana; fifty seven grandchildren; seventy five great grandchildren; and an adopted son, Neal Blackburn. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by sons, Isaac, Matthew and Daniel Edwards; three infant children and all her brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elders Rodney Marshall, Samuel Edwards, David Edwards, Lacy Gates and John Edwards. Burial will follow in the Edwards family cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 PM until the hour of the service at the church.
