Mrs. Frances Louise “Lou” Parks Hamlin, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, November 2, 2019, at her home.  Mrs. Hamlin was born August 19, 1941, in Rockingham County, one of five children born to the late Robert Lee and Margie Elizabeth Holyfield Parks.  Lou was a retired nurse who loved and cared for her patients like they were her family and she was a faithful member of Turkey Ford Baptist Church.  She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Jodi Hamlin and David and Crystal Hamlin; two grandchildren, Lyndsi Hamlin and Sam Hamlin; a sister and brother-in-law, Maedell and Rex Quesinberry; her aunt, Hattie Forbes; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Whitaker, Rachel Parks and Margaret Parks; two sisters-in-law and spouses, Bonnie Cook and husband Roger, and Judy Sprinkle and husband Mitchell; several nieces and nephews; two very special family friends, Johnny and Tara Hazelwood; and her loving fur baby, Max.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hamlin was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Johnny Ray Hamlin; a sister, Mary Ann Parks; two brothers, Bruce Parks and Earl Parks; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Gammons.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Steven Corn and the Rev. Alton Bledsoe officiating.  Burial will follow in the Turkey Ford Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday night at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, Alzheimer’s Association, or to Mayberry 4 Paws.
