Louise Sawyers Kauffman

Mrs. Katie Louise Sawyers Kauffman, age 88 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday February 11, 2025. She was born in Surry County on July 31, 1936, to the late Fred William and Mandy Ellen Tolbert Atkins Sawyers. She was a member of Blackwater Methodist Church and had retired from Western Electric after many dedicated years. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ruth Puckett; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Kim Sawyers; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kauffman was preceded in death by her husband, Willian Franklin “Bill” Kauffman; a sister, Lela Mae Atkins Jones; and by three brothers, Ray William “Bill” Sawyers, Edward Cleveland “Ed” Atkins, and James Odell “Tom” Sawyers. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Mrs. Kauffman. The family would like to give a special thank you to Cathy Childress for all of the care she gave to Louise during her illness.
