Louise Lockwood Belton Myers

Mrs. Louise Lockwood Belton Myers went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2010,at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born February 5, 1917, in Surry County, to the late Moir Wilson Belton, Sr. and Nora Pack Belton. She was a faithful member of Bannertown Baptist Church in Mount Airy and attended as long as her health would allow. She taught Sunday school for over 40 years. She was retired from the Mount Airy City School System, where she served as School Food Service Director until retirement. Her husband of 66 years, Samuel Earl Myers, preceded her in death in 2002. Surviving are two children, a daughter, Sylvia Myers Chilton and husband, Doug, a son, Charles Earl Myers and wife, JoAnn Baer Myers, of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Lauren Chilton Banks and husband, Wayne, of Westfield, David Samuel Myers and wife, Dr. Michelle McAtee, of Franklin, TN, and Daniel Wilson Myers of Berkeley, CA; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Andrew Banks and Maegan Olivia Banks, both of Westfield, Jacob William Myers and Noah Daniel Myers, both of Franklin, TN; and a host of friends, nieces and nephews. Louise was also preceded in death by three sisters, Jane Elizabeth Belton Thomas, Mary Belton McCraw, and Sara Frances Belton Keady; and a brother, Moir Wilson Belton, Jr. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 7, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Bannertown Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Coe and the Rev. Milton Sewell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service Sunday at Bannertown Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Comfort Keepers and Louise's special caregivers, Nancy Elledge, Betty Freeman, Andrea Johnson, Maxine Ward, Shannon Wood, and Betty Sechrist. Special appreciation is also expressed to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home staff for their loving and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bannertown Baptist Church, 1834 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
