Louzetta "Lou" Hawks Leonard

Mrs. Louzetta “Lou” Hawks Leonard, 94, of Cana, VA, passed away at Surry Community Health and Rehab Thursday, September 2, 2021. Mrs. Leonard was one of eight children born to the late William Columbus “Lum” and Mattie Leona Davis Hawks. Mrs. Leonard was a beautiful woman with a gentle nature. She always greeted you with a warm smile. She retired from Cross Creek Apparel after many years, as well as working as a CNA. Mrs. Leonard was a loyal member of the Cana Golden Agers and attended Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Leonard will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and son-in-law, Joan and Stan King, and Jean Culler; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Rita Leonard, Wade and Rhonda Leonard, and Mike and Tammy Leonard; granddaughters, Jennifer King, Frances Foley, Tabitha Young; grandsons, Anthony Culler, Danny Leonard, Todd Leonard, Chris Leonard, Jason King, Shane Culler, Bradley Leonard, Matthew King, and Justin Leonard. 31 great-grandchildren. Step grandchildren, Melissa Flippin and Maranda Burcham; four step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leonard was preceded in death by her husband Rushia “Rush” Valentine Leonard; granddaughter, Tracy Easter; step granddaughter Damie Hose; great granddaughter Ashley Leonard; sisters Ruby Blakley, Myrtle Head, Julia White and Flora Martin, brothers, J.W. “Jay” Hawks and James “Jim” Hawks, and Gurnie Hawks. Funeral services will be held at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 6, 2021, with Elder Carlton Brown and Elder Lowell Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
