Mrs. Lucille B. Callahan, 86 of Dobson, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away on September 26, 2006 at her home. She was born on May 19, 1920 in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Charlie Barnard and the late Ellen Bowman Barnard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Callahan; one sister Malzy Hicks; one brother Bennie Barnard. She was a retired inspector from Henredon Furniture. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law Hilda and Calvin Jones of Dobson; seven sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Callahan, Daniel Callahan both of Brandon, Mississippi, Dennis and Lilly Callahan of Charlotte, NC, Billy Callahan of Marianna, Florida, James Callahan of Fort Worth, Texas, Charles and Suzanne Callahan of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, Joe and Katie Callahan of Mt. Airy, NC: grandchildren Tim and Joey Timmons, Jill J. Dockery, Doug and Joel Jones, Kelly and Adrienne Callahan, Vicky and Ashley Callahan, Kimberly and Stuart Callahan, Pamela, Katherine, Jimmie, Sean, Christina Callahan, Brian and Bridget Callahan, Nicole Harbaugh, Joey Callahan, Missy Callahan-Castile; great-grandchildren Jake, Tess, Jett Dockery, Kelsey, Lanee, Katie Timmons, Austin and Layne Callahan, Madison Callahan, Lauren Kemp, Jordan (Jones) Flippen, Abby Callahan, Kirsten Callahan, Natalee and Carlee Jones; sisters, Violet Midkiff, Phoebe Baskin, Sylvia Large, Omalee Hawks, Jessie (Jokey) Martin. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday September 29, 2006 in the Chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson with burial to follow in the Dobson City Cemetery. Rev. Van Brindle will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7 until 9 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.The family would like to give a special thanks to Flannery Heath and Mary Beall from the Mountain Valley Hospice, and Casey Lovill and Staff at Surry Community Nursing Center.
