Lucille Draughn Isaacs

Mrs. Lucille Draughn Isaacs, 86, of Thurmond, passed away Wednesday evening, April 19, 2023, at The Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born May 14, 1936, to the late Jacob Spencer Draughn and the late Dinah Handy Draughn.  Lucille married the love of her life, Ed Isaacs.  After her husband retired, they enjoyed bowling together in a league where they won several tournament awards.  She was a faithful member of Charity Hill Baptist Church as long as her health permitted, where she served as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher and many other responsibilities. Church was an important part of her life.  Lucille was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.  She liked to garden, plant flowers and was a great seamstress.  She made both of her daughter’s wedding dresses.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Edward Isaacs; two brothers, David Draughn and Dennis Draughn; brothers-in-law, Robert Hayes and Larry Isaacs and a sister-in-law, Linda Draughn.  Left to cherish her memories are her children, Pat and Bill Speaks, Kathy and Gary Darnell, Jeff Isaacs; grandchildren, Will and Ashleigh Speaks, Justin and Carly Speaks, Kristin and Chris Ertel, Amy McKinney, and Andrew Darnell; great-grandchildren, Amanda Speaks, Emily Speaks, Wesley Speaks, Brian Ertel, Grace Ertel, Abigail Ertel, Annabella Ertel, Elijah McKinney, Sienna McKinney and one on the way; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Odell Fowler; sisters-in-law, Opal Draughn, Flora Hayes and Peggy Isaacs; several nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to thank her special caregivers for all the love and support given to their mom during her sickness – Rebecca Bray, Skylar Childress, Teresa Soit, Wanda Clark, Jessica Harris, Vickie Collins and Debbie Cook.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Charity Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Blackburn and Rev. Brian Cardwell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 pm until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Charity Hill Baptist Church, Union Hill Road, Thurmond, NC 28683.  Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Isaacs family.
