Lucille Virginia Mears

Mrs. Lucille Virginia Howlett Mears, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at her daughter’s home.  Mrs. Mears was born in Patrick County on April 22, 1938, to George and Sadie Gunnell Howlett.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.  Among the many who will always cherish her memory is a daughter and son-in-law, Shellie and Clade Shelar; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Roger and Nancy Mears, Teddy and Kay Mears, and Robert and Shirley Mears; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mears was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mears; daughters, Carolyn Mears, and Nancy France; a son, Joey Mears and a grandson, T. J. Mears.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Temple Baptist Church by Rev. Brian Pack, and Rev. Kenneth Smith.  Burial will follow in Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church Saturday two hours prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
