Lucille Frances Romeo

The life of Lucille Francis Romeo is one we should all rejoice in.  Lucille was a grandmother, mother, and sister.  She touched the lives of so many.  Lucille was born in Mt. Airy, NC, on February 10, 1925 to the late John and Hallie Nester Gruble.  Lucille was a sister to seven other siblings and shined in local spotlight.  She excelled in sports and was featured in the local paper on numerous occasions.  Lucille left Mt. Airy to work in Washington, DC.  She then moved to New York to pursue her dream in modeling.  She worked for Barbizon modeling and enjoyed the “Big Apple”.  After the war, she met the love of her life, John Romeo.  They shared a precious life and raised three children: John, Patti, and Donna.  They resided in Elmont, NY and built a life together.  Lucille’s husband, John passed away to cancer at the age of 56.  Lucille became the anchor the whole family leaned on.  She went on to become Grandmother to Nicholas and Gianna.  Lucille Romeo was a role model to so many and touched the lives of those around her in a multitude of positivity.  Lucille was always the center of the room; she attracted all eyes from her sense of humor and her contagious smile.  She never failed to put a smile on anyone’s face.  At the age of 95 she never skipped a beat, she continued to dance and put on a show.  She will be carried on through her children and grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 20, 2020 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service Monday.  Inurnment will follow later beside her husband in Long Island National Cemetery, in NY.

"Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."  - John 14:1-3
